Once in Torun, you must reach the Student Hostel (Building No 10) at 27 Gagarina Street.

If you come by train

At the main railway station (Torun Glowny), take local bus No. 22 that goes to the city centre and get off at the 4th bus stop, then cross the street and take bus No 15 that goes to Gagarina Street (opposite direction); get off at the 3rd bus stop.

If you have heavy luggage and enough money you can take a taxi. The price is zł 10-13, depending on the day, time or the taxi driver. Choose radio taxi.

If you come by Polski Express bus

Just take the bus No. 15 that goes to Gagarina Street. The Polski Express stops near the Ethnographic Museum at Szosa Chełmińska Street. After getting off go to the left for about 200 meters (opposite the Old Town, along the bus route). You should be at the crossing. Cross the perpendicular street, turn right and go to the bus stop. Take the bus No 15 and get off at the 3rd bus stop.

Note: The price of one bus ticket is zł 1.50. You need a new ticket every time you change the bus!

Accommodation

Student Hostel at 27 Gagarina Street is situated in the beautiful environment of the University campus. It takes only 10 minutes of walk to get to ICIMSS.

Three or four students usually share two double bedrooms, a small cosy kitchen, a shower and a toilet. The kitchen is equipped with a cupboard, shelves, a refrigerator and a boiling water pot. There are TV and radio sets in each room. Breakfast is served in a nice dinning room from 7-9 a.m. There is a possibility to wash your clothes in washing machine (the price is really affordable). You can also borrow the iron at the reception. The members of the hostel staff are very kind.

Other meals: There is a possibility to have lunch in several canteens at the campus, and there is also a pizzeria near the hostel.

Telephone: There is a phone booth near the reception. Phone cards could be bought from the machine (the price is about zł 19).

Shops

There are two supermarkets near the Hostel at Gagarina Street where you can buy almost everything you need, from food to notebooks. These shops are open from Monday to Friday till 7 p.m., on Saturday till 3 p.m. and on Sunday till 1 p.m. Almost all shops as well as exchange offices in town are open till 6 p.m.

There is also a very small shop in the student dormitory No 9, which is open till 10 p.m., where you can by phone cards as well.

NOTE: Don't forget to bring your own notebooks, pencils and a few floppy disks!

Currency

Hopefully, you managed to change at least some of your currency to zlotys for example in Warsaw. In Torun, there are separate currency exchange offices and almost all of the banks have got such services. Most of them are open till 500 or 600 p.m. There might be slight differences of exchange rates in various offices.

And last but not least

Walk the streets of the Old Town and see whatever you can: from Kopernik's House and Ethnographic Museum to the ruins of the Teutonic Castle and, of course, don't forget to taste TORUNSKIE PIERNIKI - JEDYNE PRAWDZIWE Delicious ginger bread biscuits

Well, we can't and we won't tell you everything. The rest is to be discovered by yourselves.
